Long-Term Love in Long-Term Care

One of the perks of working in long-term care is getting to know some incredible individuals who are part of your community. Our staff members at Mill Creek love getting to know, making genuine connections and creating relationships with residents and their families. One family that we have gotten to know very well at Mill Creek is Gerry and Sharon. Gerry is one of our long-term residents, and his wife, Sharon, is a frequent visitor. We are privileged to know Gerry and Sharon and watch their love flourish.

Everyone knows that when a couple gets married, they share their vows and make an oath to stand by each other's side in sickness and in health. Knowing what that sickness will look like may be unpredictable, but we know from those who have come before that that journey can be taxing and filled with many obsitcles. Gerry and Sharon inspire all of us here at Mill Creek with their passionate and abiding love.



Gerry and Sharon met 60 years ago at a grocery store. They were together for many years before getting married, and on the 4th of December, the happy couple will celebrate 40 years of wedding bliss! Family is one of the most important things to both of them. The couple has three children and one granddaughter, whom they love spending time with. The pair have always enjoyed going on camping trips with their family. Their word of advice to pass on to younger couples is, "Don't sweat the small stuff. Gerry and I say I love you every night."

Gerry and Sharon will have a small celebration with their family on Sunday. We are so happy to serve Gerry here at Mill Creek and see Sharon every time she comes to visit. Happy 40th anniversary, and we wish you many more!
